BHUTAN JOURNEY

THIMPHU, TRONGSA, BUMTHANG, GANGTEY, PUNAKHA & PARO

Day 01 :
ARRIVAL AT PARO AIRPORT AND DRIVE TO THIMPHU

In the morning, take the flight to Paro, where you will be received by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Day 02 :
THIMPHU

Today, you  explore the wonders of Thimphu, including the huge Dzong, a fortified structure found nearly in all major communities of Bhutan. They typically serve both the roles of local administration and residence of monastic communities, all preserved within fortifying walls. We also stop by the Painting School, Handicrafts Emporium and the King’s memorial.

Day 03 :
THIMPHU - TRONGSA

This morning drive up to the Dochu-La Pass (3.088 m) where on clear sky day one can view Gangkar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest peak rising to an altitude of 7,497 metres above sea level. While descending down, stop at Wangduephodrang and explore the spectacular Dzong which is located on the riverside. By afternoon we cross the breathtaking Pele-La Pass at an altitude of 3,300 metres.

Day 04 :
BUMTHANG - GANGTEY

Drive to Phobjikha Valley and Gangtey. This valley is a winter home of migratory Black necked crane that comes from Tibet crossing over the Himalayas. These birds have great significance in the local folklore of this region and you learn more about these birds in the dedicated Bird Centre.

Day 05 :
GANGTEY - PUNAKHA

Drive to Punakha and en route stop for a small offside excursion to Chimi Lhakhang (monastery) about half an hour walk through paddy fields from the roadside. This monastery was built by a famous monk known as Divine Madman . He was famed for blessing fertility to barren mothers. Rest of the day free for your own at Punakha.

Day 06 :
PUNAKHA

This morning wander to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten through a mixed woodland area and terraced farmlands of chillies and vegetables and river bank. After that we go to the magnificent Punakha Dzong, which lies between Phochu and Mochu rivers and stands for the co-existence of masculine and feminine.

Day 07 :
PUNAKHA - PARO

Today after a leisurely breakfast, check – out from the hotel of Punakha and drive to Paro. Reach Paro by afternoon or late afternoon. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 08 :
PARO

Our today’s sightseeing includes the visit to Ta Dzong for the National Museum, the Rinpung Dzong and the well known Taktsang Monastery, better known as Tiger’s Nest, which lies on a rocky hill overlooking a broad woodland valley. To reach Tiger’s Nest monastery, requires a hard climb but it’s worthwhile.

DEPARTURE FROM PARO

Today, we transfer you to Paro airport for your onward/return flight back home with cherished memories.
