Embark on a sacred journey through the Buddha Circuit, a spiritual trail that traces the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha across some of the most revered sites in India and Nepal. This transformative pilgrimage offers not only a deep spiritual experience but also a rich cultural and historical exploration of ancient Buddhist heritage.

Your journey begins at Lumbini, in present-day Nepal, the birthplace of Prince Siddhartha Gautama, who later became the Buddha. This tranquil site is home to the Maya Devi Temple, the Sacred Garden, and the Ashokan Pillar—silent witnesses to the beginning of the spiritual saga.

From there, travel to Bodh Gaya in Bihar, India, where Siddhartha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. The Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the centerpiece here, surrounded by serene monasteries and sacred spots like Vajrasana (the Diamond Throne) and Animesh Lochan Chaitya.

Next, head to Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh, where the Buddha delivered his first sermon after enlightenment. Visit the towering Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, and Ashokan Pillar, and explore the Sarnath Museum, which houses ancient relics and Buddhist artifacts.

The journey continues to Kushinagar, the place where Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana (final liberation). The peaceful town is home to the Mahaparinirvana Temple, Ramabhar Stupa, and Nirvana Stupa, drawing pilgrims seeking reflection and peace.

In Rajgir, the Buddha spent many years meditating and preaching. Hike up Griddhakuta Hill (Vulture’s Peak) to enjoy stunning views and visit the Japanese Peace Pagoda and Venuvana Monastery, believed to be one of the first Buddhist monasteries.

Nearby Nalanda was a major center of Buddhist learning. Explore the ruins of the ancient Nalanda University, one of the world’s earliest residential universities, and the Nalanda Archaeological Museum that preserves its scholarly legacy.

In Vaishali, where Buddha announced his impending death, you’ll find the Ashokan Pillar, Kutagarasala Vihara, and sacred stupas that commemorate his teachings.

Move on to Sravasti, where the Buddha performed many miracles and spent 24 rainy seasons in meditation. The Jetavana Monastery, Anathapindika’s Stupa, and Angulimala’s Cave are some of the key sites here.

End your pilgrimage at Kapilavastu, the Buddha’s childhood home as Prince Siddhartha. Near Siddharthnagar, the archaeological ruins and nearby Tilaurakot in Nepal offer a glimpse into his royal beginnings.

Whether you’re a pilgrim, history enthusiast, or spiritual traveler, the Buddha Circuit offers a deeply enriching experience. Walk the path of peace, wisdom, and enlightenment—book your journey today and experience the soul of Buddhism come alive.
