Peru: Cusco, Machu Picchu & Lake Titicaca

Spend nine days in southern Peru, linking Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and the communities of Lake Titicaca in one route. The trip balances archaeological sites, Andean scenery and time with local families, with 3-star hotel stays and one homestay on Amantani Island. Start in Cusco and continue through Chinchero, Moray and the Maras salt mines before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes. Visit Machu Picchu, then head back to Cusco for Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake. The journey ends on the Route of the Sun to Puno, with stops at Andahuaylillas, Raqchi, Sicuani, La Raya Pass and Pukara, followed by Lake Titicaca visits to the Uros reed islands, Amantani and Taquile. Trip notes: some days involve early starts and altitude gain. The itinerary is designed to allow time for acclimatisation and steady travel between major sights.
