This five-day journey links Vientiane, Phonsavan and Luang Prabang with a visit to the Plain of Jars and time on the Mekong near Pak Ou. It combines city sightseeing, archaeological sites and local stops along the road between the north and the capital. The trip includes temple visits in Vientiane, a stop at Site 1 of the Plain of Jars, and a route through hill country toward Luang Prabang. In Luang Prabang, the program continues with a boat trip on the Mekong to Pak Ou Caves and selected city sights. It is a practical way to cover several of Laos’s best-known places in one short itinerary, with hotel stays, transfers and a partly guided program.

    Vientiane

    Arrival in Vientiane

    Arrive in Vientiane and transfer to the hotel. If time allows, take a half-day city tour with stops at Wat Sisaket, Wat Prakeo, That Luang Stupa and Patuxay Monument. Overnight in Vientiane.

    Phonsavan

    Vientiane to Phonsavan and the Plain of Jars

    Transfer to the airport for the flight to Xieng Khuang. On arrival, visit Site 1 of the Plain of Jars, then continue to the hotel for the night in Xieng Khuang.

    Luang Prabang

    Phonsavan to Luang Prabang

    Start with a visit to the central market in Phonsavan, then continue by road toward Luang Prabang. En route, stop at Tham Pra, see Hmong and other hill village communities, and travel through mountain scenery before arriving in Luang Prabang.
